Tough Act to Follow

TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW
the words have all been said
We both sleep alone in our King sized beds
I walk the streets with shoes of lead
trudging through the rain
History it dragged us down
Petty voices in small towns
whispers that no shout could drown
but there's no cause to complain
Nothing of that life appealed
Nothing worthwhile was revealed
i wont speak my lips are sealed
beside's it's all the same
Every time I speak to someone new
The words just ring out hollow
Gotta Face it baby
Your a tough act to follow
We drank the wine and covered ground
Turned every feeling upside down
i left mine in the lost and found
behind some sad refrain
I was assigned the blame I took the hit
But nothing much was learned from it
what happened to the perfect fit
that turned into this pain
I think about it when I try
To reach down deep but I can't cry
what was the truth, what was the lie
It's all stuck in my brain
Every time I speak to someone new
The words just ring out hollow
Face it baby
Your a tough act to follow
This sadness is still wrapped in rage
An angry beast inside a cage
the wisdom of a Maji Sage
Still could not explain
How did we both end up here
My thoughts break through the stratosphere
Breathing ever thinning air
While it all went down the drain
I can't talk my words get stuck
Can't blame no one for my bad luck
There is no point for pain, regret or sorrow
It's just that you're a tough act to follow
I'll get by been here before
It was my choice to use the door
you asked too much to be ignored
the truth ran out of grain
We forced the lock no key would fit
you were the first to open it
but now it's time for us to quit
this crazy losing game
It's way to late to re create
What we don't appreciate
Before love turns to bitter hate
Like snow turns into rain
I think about another round
With someone new that might be found
But everyone I meet seems pale and shallow
Baby your a tough act to follow

Wrong Side of Love

WRONG SIDE OF LOVE
Birds sing in the forest
Snakes slither in lakes
Sweet taste of youth
And it’s bitter mistakes
I wander the village
Fog thicker than blood
Wake up once again
On the wrong side of love
Wrong side of love
Cruel and corrupt
If you don’t see it coming
That’s where you’ll end up
The carnival comes
Same time every year
You can circle the date
That it’s bound to appear
This fragile condition
Fits like a glove
Wounded by words
From the wrong side of love
Wrong side of love
Cruel and corrupt
It may be coming down the turnpike
Trying to pick you up
Don’t be too certain
That you’re well prepared
You may be caught in a headlight
stunned like a deer
Now I see clearly
But the lesson comes way too late
About the axis of evil
Between desire love and hate
Up in the mountains
Beside a cool lake
I see my reflection
Ponder my fate
There’ s no mistaken
The signs from up above
Delivered by fools and clowns
From the wrong side of love
There’s food in the cooler
leftovers there
I want to drink whisky
But I’m sticking to beer
The signs of nature
Tell me I’ve had enough
Don’t even have the cards
To think about calling anyone’s bluff

No Welding Required

NO WELDING REQUIRED
I could keep your heart in mine
Nothing more I’d desire
It would stay here for all time
No welding required
I could lose my head and mind
Walk through ice and fire
There would be no way to unwind
No welding required
Your name belongs with mine
We were born hard wired
Just as grapes turn into wine
No welding required
I could walk a thousand miles
And still would not be tired
Put my lips on your sweet smile
No welding required
No welding required
No welding required
Like the ocean meets the sky
No welding required
There is nothing words can do
No hammer, nail or plier
That can separate we two
No welding required
Our bond is forged in steel
branded by our fire
regardless of what time reveals
no welding required

It Don't Matter Anyway
04:36

IT DON'T MATTER ANYWAY
I'll sit here in this bar
drink up 'til your a scar
thinking of our past
now, i'm out to sea
but i'm not the kind to be
drowning all that fast
your ghost, i still talk to her
but the words are just a blur
all the same her lips still move
we argue until i'm inside out
and there's nothing left to doubt
and nothing left to prove
because i knew before we threw the dice
that you'd never take advice
i got nothing left to say to you
and i knew, when you walked out the door
it wouldn't matter anymore
it don't matter anyway
yeah, it's the same old tired tale
of a ship that wouldn't sail
of experience and youth
with words, so hot that they still burn
you know we could fill an urn
and all the while we knew the truth
that are days, as seen from distant hills
until we had our fill
of rolls always miscast
and now, i see it from afar
your just another scar
and your one that healed real fast
we were doomed to fail
but the coffin wouldn't nail
all the images removed
our trails as cold as Arctic ice
it's time for our last rights
and there's nothing left to prove

Heavy Heart Blues

HEAVY HEART BLUES
my heart is heavy
and i wish my dog could talk
yeah, my heart is heavy
and i wish my dog could talk
it's cold outside
i don't know if he wants to walk
you’re long gone
but your chain still binds
you’re long, long gone
but your chain still binds
don't understand
how a woman can be so unkind
i'm letting go
just as fast as i can
yeah, i'm letting go
just as fast as i can
you might treat me like a boy
but honey, I’m a grown man
the tide is turning
the water is getting cold
the tide is turning
and the water is getting cold
let me go, let me go
can you hear my call
please, let me go
won't you listen to my call
maybe I still love you
but you don't care for me at all
my heat is heavy
and you ought to be glad my dog can't talk
yes my heart is heavy
you ought to be glad that he’s well taught
better listen to him growl
listen to hear his disturbing thoughts

Instincts

|

INSTINCTS
Here I go again, leaning on my pen
Trying to make it through the night
No way to predict, should I stand or sit
It's time to fight or flight
Yeah I hold a good hand
This time I have two pair
No more drawing to the inside straight
chalk it up to love, chalk it up to fear
But this time it ain't up to fate
I've been around the track
Been to hell and back
familiar with that burning view
I've learned to trust my instincts
I'll follow them this time
this time my instincts don't trust you
I don't know where you are,
I've learned not to care
About what I don't control
but There's no wrong or right
when you're not in sight
That’s when confusion takes its toll
You stand upon the mound
throw curveballs toward the ground
This game goes into inning ten,
No matter who may win,
no tide can't stop my swim
We won't be playing this again
this time I'm more than sure
This time I'll take the cure
I'm well aware of what to do
I've learned to trust my instincts
I'll follow them this time
this time my instincts don't trust you

One Last Hint of Green

ONE LAST HINT OF GREEN
we've seen so much heartache
That now it is routine
It's a kaleidoscope
of all the same old scenes
with the sky descending over us
like skin thats growing old
There's nothing left here that will warm
what long ago went cold
weary as i watch the leaves
jumping off the trees
the ground turning November grey
with one last hint of green
An album with my photographs
a window to the past
I'm a voyeur to some distant life
With an ever changing cast
There are conclusions lessons learned
But somehow they don't stick
They slip like moss on river rocks
A cruel but clever trick
Still something's left unnoticed
It remains unseen
The ground has turned November grey
With one last hint of green
Recrimination ruled the day
There's no changing that
There's no direction forward
And there's no turning back
Early morning pastel clouds
I awake from a dream of the dead
My heart recalls it's history
Of fighting with my head
But life is for the living
I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean
The ground has turned November grey
With one last hint of green
One last hint of green

Here's to Love
03:33
|
|||
Here's to Love
Here's to love, may it always rule your day
And here's to love. May it never fade away
To true love. one always stays
Rock solid love. Not just some crazy phase
I mean the kind of love that you can rely
Where you see yourself through someone else's eyes
May you always keep your flame alive
With the light that we all need to stay alive
With love that lasts throughout life's fears and pain
And when it flickers, it come alive again
I wish you love, a love that you deserve
One that you feel, beyond a spoken word
Silent truth, that never need a phrase
One that remains, through life's confusing maze
(Repeat verse 1)
